PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Organophilic Clay is an organically modified bentonite used as a gelling and viscosifying agent for primarily diesel-based drilling fluids. This improved version will function effectively in synthetic based drilling fluids.

APPLICATION

Organophilic Clay is used in the 2-10lb/bbl (5.7-28.5 kg/m3) range depending on the desired viscosity properties and the type of base oil used. Also, diesel base fluids will show faster yield, so when synthetic oils are used, it is important to not over-treat the system upon initial mixing.

ADVANTAGES

(1) Provides gel structure and viscosity for the suspersion of weight materials

(2) Increase viscosity for improved hole-cleaning capacity

(3) Improve filter-cake quality and filtraction characteristics

(4) Effective gelling agent and in casing packs and packers fluids

(5) High yield point in various oils for oil drilling; stable performance even in high temperature

(6) Wide application range including low polarity to high polarity systems

USAGE

Organophilic Clay is used in the 2-10lb/bbl (5.7-28.5 kg/m3) range depending on the desired viscosity properties, mixing system, and temperature.

STORAGE

(1) Avoid high-intensity extreme pressure and prolonged exposure to strong sunlight.

(2) Keep container closed.

(3) Keep away from heat, sparks and flames.
